Marilyn Monroe in the skirt blowing scene from The Seven Year Itch (1955). Photograph by Milton Greene, 1954

Marilyn’s dress was designed by the famous Hollywood designer, Travilla. This scene greatly angered Marilyn’s then husband, Joe DiMaggio and he reportedly stormed off the set and both ultimately divorced. The dress was later bought by Debbie Reynolds and was put up for auction alongside other items of her collection of film memorabilia. It was sold at auction for a staggering $4,600,000 (Total over $5,600,000 with commission)
